I
s my child entitled to a free place?
You can claim for your child if you receive one or more of the following benefits
- Income support
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Support under Part IV of the immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16.190 as assessed by her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs
- Children will also qualify to receive a funded place if they are looked after by the local authority.
Additional places will be considered for children:
- Who have a Special Educational Need or Disability and are involved with a professional
- Who have left care through adoption order, residence order, or special guardianship
- Who are involved with targeted services (such as Child In Need or Child Protection) and a Key Professional is working with the family
- From households receiving Working Tax Credits (due to become Universal Credit) and with an annual gross income of no more than £16,190
Identifying additional criteria without meeting the first criteria does not automatically entitle a child to a funded place during 2013-14. Additional places will be dependent upon funding availability and will be considered on an individual basis.
